About The Artist

Joy Portnoy Severin was born in St. Louis. Her and her husband Sandy divide their time between the Bay Area and their ranch in Sonora, where they grow olive trees and lavender. Joy has been involved in numerous arts projects in california. She co-founded and co-directed the town of Danville%26apos;s first Arts Festival, and served on the Board as Fund Raiser and Art Director for two years. She has always been deeply involved in dance, performing for fifteen years in Dancers Circle, a Bay Area-based liturgical dance company, and she has competed as a ballroom dancer at competitions throughout the United States.

She attended Washington University School of Fine Arts and is a graduate of california College of Arts and Crafts. Her drawings and paintings appear in private collections in California, the Bay Area, Boston, Atlanta, Cleveland, St. Louis, and the University of Iowa. Joy is a member of the California Watercolor Association, The Central Sierra Arts Council, and the Mother Lode Arts association. Her work is represented by The Main Street Gallery, Murphys, CA, Bowl Of Cherries Gallery, Sonora, CA, and Galeria Tonantzin, San Juan Bautista, CA.
